From individual solutions to an ecosystem: a new stage in the development of NRC in Ukraine
War changes not only the speed of technological development, but also the very logic of their creation.
On the modern battlefield, effectiveness is determined not by individual solutions, even best-in-class ones, but by the ability of different systems to work together.

Defense technology company DevDroid is moving in this direction, creating a unified ecosystem of ground robotic systems in which different platforms, regardless of manufacturer, are united by a common control standard. This approach allows for faster implementation of proven solutions and scaling them for the needs of the front.
Our first development was the Wolly 7.62 turret – a stationary module designed for remote firing, which would have high accuracy and minimize risks for the military. In 2024, against the backdrop of the mass spread of UAVs and especially FPV drones, the kill zone grew rapidly – from 1 to 10 km and more. This formed a new requirement: the combat module must be mobile. Therefore, we began cooperation with manufacturers of ground robotic platforms to install turrets on their complexes.
The first such integration was the NUMO NRC from NUMO Robotics (ex Tank Bureau). It was in the process of this work that we developed the Droid Box – a universal control system, which became the “brain” of the complex. There are already many high-quality NRC solutions on the Ukrainian market, and we plan further integrations with them – both in the logistics and evacuation areas, and in terms of installing our combat modules of 7.62, 12.7 and 40 calibers.
Droid Box is responsible for controlling both the NRC itself and the combat module. The system supports several types of communication, has a convenient control interface and wide functionality. The operator receives complete information about the platform’s status: battery charge level, travel route, map, GPS coordinates, range, distance traveled, and can also record a mission video. In essence, Droid Box is a universal platform for controlling ground robotic complexes.
The NUMO NRC, which we produce, is built on a modular principle. This allows the platform to be used in various scenarios: logistics, engineering work, in particular, installing anti-mine trawls, a dump truck, the “Egoza” module with barbed wire. Modularity allows you to quickly change the configuration of the complex in accordance with the tasks. A separate direction is combat modules, with the possibility of installing MK-19, Browning 12.7 and PKT 7.62.
We recommend that everyone integrate, because our strength lies in unity. We integrate with companies in electronic warfare, defense, and communications. The more high-quality solutions such as Droid Box and others, the more missions will be successfully completed. And successfully completed missions mean saved human lives.
In 2025, we first entered into cooperation with DevDroid to integrate a remotely controlled turret into our logistics complex – ZMIY, installing a DevDroid turret with a 12.7 mm Browning machine gun on it.
This approach demonstrates the effectiveness of cooperation: each participant focuses on their expertise. For example, someone knows how to make turrets with high quality – they deal with turrets and do not waste time on developing platforms. We, in turn, develop logistics platforms well. Cooperation between two manufacturers is effective, because each does their own thing, and in the complex this plays an important role.
Our NRC is called “Tanchik” – it is a logistics platform. Management is simplified thanks to the Droid Box unit, which is easily integrated. This unit combines both the turret and the NRC, everything is controlled from one application. This is a truly high-quality solution, and the future is behind it.
This is not just a merger. In my opinion, the entire NRC market is an era of the revival of mechanical engineering in Ukraine. It all starts with small robots that work on remote control, and then they will be scaled up. Engineers exchange experience, understand which nodes have already been tested and can be implemented. Therefore, everyone should unite to create the best products.
